Deciphering God's Black Son by Zulu Faz

Here's a quick little take on what the tracks mean to me after listening to the whole project, which if you didn't know is AVAILABLE NOW!!!

1. Heaven's First Song
You can't escape the religious undertone that will come from the title so this track is the perfect opener. Jay's lyrics speak on how he began and Nas' lyrics offer a perspective on finding salvation and funny enough it seems Jay has found his salvation in writing. Its almost like a wake up song because of how Nas ends his verse after what is said by Jay; you have to start living and find your salvation, we are blessed to do the things we want.

2. Made You Justify
This is straight thuggery because Nas' Made You Look verse and the song itself was about having a presence and drawing attention as King of the town as he screams from the rooftop. Jay's verse from Justify My Thug justifies his presence on of course his mentality and his stand on just straight getting things done and raising hell till its heaven.

3. December 4th Warfare
This is a march anthem because they both touch upon their beginnings and you can just picture them getting ready for some big battle with war paint and Scarface artillery.

4. Thugz Mansion Worldwide
This one works so perfect because you have three perspectives, Nas is looking upon a thug and hoping there is somewhere he can go, Pac shows us there is a place to go and Jay offers what someone under those circumstances would be thinking and the draw of that life. There is a cohesion because all touch upon the presence of a place that offers an escape from a not so picture perfect life.

5. Cross The Moment of Clarity
This is about their positions in Hip-Hop; Nas is carrying the game on his shoulders and taking it upon himself to bring it back and having his moment, his calling. Jay talks about advancing by dumbing down and having to conform but accepting it however still wanting to give back to the game and staying true to himself. You've got to love the contrasting views.

6. Get What More
Some New York sh*t what more can I say!

7. A Mastermind's Threat
Just vile and dark and telling people to back down; Jay's threats are straightforward and Nas touches upon how a simple threat can become a plot if you aren't paying attention. Basically you wouldn't want to mess with these dudes and they are giving you fair warning not to, its the hazard sign.

8. Last Real Announcement
This one is surreal because its like they are both touching upon why they would get into their historical beef and each trying to justify themselves to their counterpart.

9. Dirt Off Warrior
This is the one track that is just a mash-up, amazingly Nas' warrior had a bounce to it that matches the bravado of Dirt Off Your Shoulder.

10. Zone 99
Both offer a little window into their zones and offer a perspective to who they are, each verse is a cut of the fabric to who they are.
